I have been a BIG believer in multivitamins ever since I had mono in the 10th grade. I was so sock, and my doctor said it would probably be a month and a half until I was better. But, I didn’t want to be down for that long! My mom and I had a trip to New York scheduled. I took multivitamins, and I got better in two weeks! I was out of bed and able to have a good time in New York.
Even though I’ve always taken my vitamin I’ve had a tons of trouble with it.
First of all, some multivitamins are tough on my stomach. What’s the point in taking something to make you healthier when it gives you a stomach ache?
Secondly, I have a hard time swallowing pills. This is something I’ve struggled with my entire life. I’ve tried putting the pill on my tongue, then drinking water, filling my mouth with water, then the pill, putting the pill in food. Nothing.
Then I heard about adult gummy multivitamins!
I was so excited about these things. Maybe I need to get a life, I don’t know. I just thought they were a great idea! Kids take gummy multivitamins. Why can’t adults?
There are a few big brands on the market that I’ve tried, and I wanted to share what I’ve found with you.
This was the first brand I tried. I wish I’d read some of the Amazon reviews first. They taste ok, but they seem to go bad about half way through the bottle. I don’t really know what’s up with that. They also aren’t great for sensitive stomachs (like mine). When I read other reviews, that seemed to be pretty common.
Nature’s Way Alive Multi-Vitamin Gummies
Not only were these rough on my stomach, but they do not taste good. They taste….vitaminey. It kind of makes me gag.
Smartypants Adult Multivitamins
My biggest complaint about Smartypants is how much sugar they put in their vitamins. You also have to take a lot of them each day. But, they taste good enough that I don’t mind spreading them out. I even use them as an after meal snack! I find that spreading them throughout the day like that makes them much easier on my stomach too.
My favorite thing about Smartypants is that they give back. They have a cool program where, for each bottle sold, they give a bottle to children in need. They also donate money to charity water, which I think is awesome.
